1
Pre Production: Planning and designing the sequence
– Idea
– Research on location and poses
– Storyboards and animatics
– Animate
2
Production: producing and building all the content that will become the animation.
– Thumbnailing keyframes – staging and gesture. loose background sketches.
– Rough out animation – simple shapes and details.
– Tie down and create neat drawings and in-between stages.
– Ink and paint the animated frames / flat colours and then paint.
– Hand paint backgrounds and scan in.
3
Post production: putting all of the assets together, polishing and producing the final outcome.
– put all pieces into after effects
– edit flat Gif/MPE4 files.
– Create parallax assets (birds, dust motes and leaves) and interactive button designs.
12 Principles of Animation
1 Stretch and squash
2 Anticipation
3 Staging
4 Pose to Pose
5 Follow through and Overlapping Action (drag)
6 Slow in and Slow out
7 Arcs
8 Secondary action (not overlapping action)
9 Timing (less drawings = fast, more drawing = slow)
10 Exaggeration
11 Solid drawing
12 Appeal – charismatic outcome / interesting. defined/ dynamic
This tutorial made the sequence of animation a lot easier to understand, and It is good for me to learn animation principles before I begin storyboarding, it will save me so much time further into the project. I will be designing my landscape and environment around my characters, not the other way around.
