Scope Of the Project:
Visual Treatment
It feels like it’s coming together and all of the scenery you are working with is pushing a very eerie feeling. The warping of the trees and the fact that not all of the frames match perfectly in-between is nice to watch.
Sound Design: The best approach to this sequence may be to start it off as a mystery, walking through the woods and sitting down at the bench. once at the bench, a story begins to be told in the clouds. The user is immersed because they don’t really know where they are or what they are doing there.
Audio treatment could include old video recordings of families – muffled audio often causes nostalgia – as it is used for this purpose in many films to convey memory. I like this idea because I want to layer the audio in a way that is comfortable to listen to but hard to hear anything that is going on. “all in your head”. I have access to old videos of my mum and I travelling down to Whanganui, visiting family and laughing at the beach. I will try playing with these.
Corto suggested that I try a first Person Lens – Could look into transition filters, where a heartbeat or the elliptic shape of an eye closing on screen makes it seem you are looking out of the eyes of the character. eg. Screen closes to a murky black and opens to change place or change view. Crying could mean the animation becomes blurry, representing tear filled eyes.
Discussion Forum – Make it anonymous, a place where there’s no sign in. People are more open to open up when you’re not targeted by name. Sharing experiences of loss. Its a very humanitarian. If I have the time.
Shimmering movement – Boiling effect on some of the detailed sections (house or bench) could match the background painting frames better as they would all move like in a mist.
Leaving fixing any in-between frames until the end of your project timeline, focus on finishing mockup up the animation sections and storyboards, get them into the website. its easier to replace something and work as you go, than leave the coding until the very last minute.
