GRAD701 & 703. W13

This week was our final period before submission. I spent the week writing my exegesis, designing the templates and finishing the final publication of my interactive storybook!! The process was incredibly tiring, yet fun. I used a safe adhesive spray in my kitchen to paste all of my consertina pages together. This time I printed a pattern for the inside pages of the book, adding and extra detail and dimension to the published copy.
I also bought some lovely gold paint for the embellishments on the cover and spine.

To create the cover and spine of my book, I took an old cover from a falling apart book I owned, and refurbished it – touching up the surface, painting the spine and pasting the inside pages accurately, to give the feeling of an old, thick coffee table book. As the printed copy was very thick, this added a lovely value to the visual ‘age’ of the book, much like the story itself.

On the printed exegesis, I created Japanese binding, learning to use the drill in the bindery and and sewing it myself at home. Maria helped me with this step, providing me with valuable Youtube videos.

I am very happy with how my boo and exegesis turned out.
